1 Name Reading Interfaith Group
2 Aims To enable members of different faiths to learn about each other's beliefs, practices and traditions in order to create greater friendship, harmony and understanding- and elimination of prejudice-in an atmosphere of appreciation of each other's spiritual paths and be responsible for planning and arranging the Group's annual programme of events.
3 Membership Membership is open to individuals who subscribe to the aims of the group.
4 Supporting Faiths

Reading Interfaith Group is supported by members of many faith communities and strives to include and support all faiths.”
5 Organisation The Committee of the Reading Interfaith Group shall consist of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and up to six other members. The Committee shall have the power of co-option to ensure, where possible, that it has at least one member of each of the supporting faith communities. The Chair and members of the committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting by a majority of those attending.
6 Responsibilities The committee shall seek to fulfil the Group's aims and be responsible for planning and arranging the Group's annual programme of events. The Committee shall fix the annual subscription and shall administer the Group's finances.
7 Annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting shall be open to all Patrons and paid up members of the Group and will normally take place in November. It will receive a report of the Group's activities and the lay audited accounts for the previous year. It will elect the Chair and members of the Committee for the ensuing year and for the ensuing 3 years for the election of a Chair and will approve the nomination of patrons as appropriate.
8 Special Meeting A special meeting may be arranged at the request of four members. The request should be sent to the secretary and details will be circulated to all members at least ten days before the proposed meeting.
9 Patrons Patrons shall be approved by the AGM on the recommendation of the Committee. Nominations may be made to the Committee by a supporting faith group. Patrons will be asked to support the aims of the Group but not necessarily take an active part in the work.
10 Altering the Constitution Notice to alter the constitution shall be lodged with the Secretary twenty days before the Annual General Meeting and shall be circulated ten days before the meeting to all members. it will require the support of a three-quarters majority of those present to be effective.
