We have 2 large events which we are well known for, these are not done every year, but they are done frequently.

The Friendship Walk

The Friendship walk is our largest event and has run almost every other year.  It was started as a response to 9/11 and the subsequent war in Afghanistan. It involves a walk through Reading, and an opportunity to visit many different places of worship to enjoy each other's company, learn from each other and make friends. In 2010 we are changing the format slightly, in previous years, we have included a lot more venues and as a result, some people felt we didn't spend long enough at any one venue, it felt like a route march and it went on too long.  So this year we have made it much shorter, this allows for a more leisurely pace, more time to spend at each venue and an earlier finish.

Autumn event

The Autumn Event began as a way of celebrating United Nations Day on October 24th.

It aims to bring people of all backgrounds together. on a Sunday afternoon to make friends and learn about each other. Representatives of different faiths are invited to speak for few moments on a shared theme followed by a few shared moments of reflection. Each meeting will convey a range of perspectives leading to better understanding of each other.

Traditionally Autumn Events have focused on peace related issues although over time a number of shared interests, themes and perceptions have emerged.

You can find out more about events using the links on our left, by becoming a member of Reading Interfaith you can get the added benefit of getting details of our events in the post.
