Minutes of Last Committee Meeting

 

Minutes of 28th May 2009 accepted as read.

 

Item 1 :  Feed back : Sacred Spaces

 

                   - Very successful.  Worth pursuing again.

 

Item 2 :  Review of year’s events.

 

Science and Religion

 

-          Decided on large subjects to give speakers clearer guidelines and perhaps fewer speakers.

 

 

Religion and suffering

 

-          Everyone enjoyed going to a different place of worship and felt the event went very well.

 

Hari Krishna evening

 

-          A very successful event and everyone taking part in worship.

 

God's Revelation

 

-          Importance in finding a theme that is relevant to the wider community rather than focussing on areas of our own interest.

 

Item 3 : Autumn events

 

a-South Street Mosque visit.  Everyone reminded of event and Mustaffa to liaise with Sarah regarding the planning.

 

b-Autumn Event :  Theme ‘Bringing Up Children in a Faith Community’ agreed.  Jane Osbourne asking her mother if she was available to speak.  John Crosfield has agreed to be a speaker.  Discussed the possibility of having a child who has been brought up in a faith tradition to speak.  The mayor has confirmed his attendance.

 

Item 5 :  Advance Preparation for AGM

 

-          It was agreed that any changes to the constitution would be approved at this coming AGM in time for the change of Officers for the following year.

 

 

Item 6 : Diary for next year. Proposed change of day for meetings

 

-          Sarah would be liaising with the Rabbi to find a meeting date more suitable for him.

 

 

Item 7 : External events.

   National Interfaith Group Network – decided not to send rep.

   Interfaith walk for peace – not and inclusive event so

   declined to advertise or be involved.

   Oxford diocesan initiative – agreed to advertise it on our

   website.

 

 

Item 8 :  Any Other Business

 

- Awaiting confirmation and information date of Studies in Wolfson
